Project Management Software

Ahh, I thought, home sweet charming little, wonderfully smelling of pinesol and very american apple pie, home! There's really no better feeling than walking through your own paint chipping, weathered and loved front door, to end what was an awful awful day at that lonesome, hole of productivity that is the office. Mine, while being a corner with two sets of enormous double pained windows with a panoramic view of the corner of Xerxes and Grand, with their little billowing bakeries, gigantic neon corporate logos and brigades of pigeons equipped with heat seeking side-winding missiles of sorts, is still a harsh, cold, claustrophobically sterile white room complete with the bane of public school children the whole world over; the florescent tube light bulb. As I walked through the threshold and into our little magical world- the one inhabited by three enormously happy individuals by the names of Michelle, Peter (that's me), and tatiana- my lovely little girl ran headlong into my leg, as she's only recently gotten the hang of this whole walking on two legs thing. At that moment, the last thing on my mind was web based project management. That is to say, I shoved it to the back of that messy pile of thoughts experts call my exquisitely cruel brain, until dinner; the family vent time. I really look forward to dinner, every night, to relinquish my mind of all of the awful things that happen during the day, and to hear the wild tales of my wife and newly murmuring daughter. They're both accomplished listeners with an ability to quell the storms of even the worst of days, and I believe myself to be rather adept at returning the favor. Tonight, however, I was especially anxious to sit and let it all out. You see, we're working on a new venture at work, and as a result, dozens of people are all involved, and it's hard to find a project management software package capable of dealing with that many people in an orderly fashion. Sitting at my desk, I had to personally teleconference with everyone involved, and send and respond to an unholy number to emails every day, in and out, if I was going to keep on top of things, and today, it all got the better of me. While in the midst of installing our new project manager software, our entire server crashed like Gili did at the box office, and we had to start over from practically scratch. The biggest set back, came in the form of a stout little frog like woman name of Greta. (I know, ho would have figured that her name would fit her job description, but hey, this is the business world!) She, in charge of project tracking, had decided, in her infinite wisdom, not to save anything she'd been working on for the last two months, and lost everything. It really was a mess. None of that, however, mattered at all as I stood over the stove, cooking a bit of my infamous southwest chili to a wonderful rendition of "me and my shadow," as performed by Michelle, Franky, Sammy and Tati.
