security system

I have learned one important lesson this semester from my work experience internship; it is always good to pay more than less for your company's security system. I did my internship for electrical engineering within a large scale surveillance security firm. I have three years of engineering under my belt so I knew all I needed to to understand and help work with the systems they had set up. The only things I really needed to learn while I was there was the designs and new technology they used in their surveillance cameras. This is a firm which builds security cameras for very large scale firms throughout the world and even does some work for the government. So with a list of clients such as theirs, the technology in their cameras is top notch and sometimes top secret. I was not allowed to see all of their products but I was allowed to learn some of their building techniques. Most of their systems have to be ordered and then they are built so I did actually get to help with some of the minor assembly work but I just don't have the training to be able to work with the more sophisticated products. It was a really great experience for me because I got to see exactly what types of jobs I would want to be working on. I had been wondering where I would want to go with my degree and was sort of set on going to graduate school after I graduate in december. Now I know that I really want to go out in to the workforce and hopefully do something like this so I can keep another school experience handy if I get bored with my job at some point down the line, which I will. I don't really want to be one of these people who goes to school and gets a Ph.D.. and doesn't ever work out in the field. I want to gain real world experience and then if I feel as though I am floundering or I am just plain bored with my point in life, then I can either get a new job or just go back to school to step up my experience. I just can't see myself as a very good teacher or researcher. In my mind I would make a much better worker out there in the real world and developing marketplace.
